Symmetry : similarity or exact correspondence between different things.

KL IN SYMMETRY explores the parallels in the everyday idiosyncrasies, phenomena, and sights scattered around Kuala Lumpur. It captures the small pairings that one finds that eventually make up the fabric of the city as a whole.  This project is based on walks taken during July 2020, at various locations, to curate a series of observations that call out to each other, no matter how far apart they are.

 

The idea of symmetries has always fascinated Acacia. It is interesting to observe parts of a subject that recall each other, to find echoes of a place within another place. It speaks towards humanity’s affinity of finding the familiar in the foreign. Kuala Lumpur is a cultural hub of truly Asian experiences.
